Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican May 5th holiday commemorating the 1862 Battle of Puebla, has become beloved around America as an excuse to drink margaritas, overdose on guac and party with friends on a weeknight.
The holiday is also an excellent opportunity to nab freebies and deals in the spirit of Cinco festivities. Here are the ones you should definitely know about. (Make sure to keep checking back for more deals as they come in!)
Taco Bell is giving away free biscuit tacos between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.—a gesture that is, in part, a celebration of Cinco de Mayo, but more a promotion of “Breakfast Defector Day.” All tacos come with scrambled eggs and cheese and your choice of bacon or sausage. (But is that even a choice? Bacon all the way.)
Moe’s is giving out free Cinco de Moe t-shirts (the next best thing to free burritos) to the first 50 in line at participating.
Chili’s is offering a free appetizer or dessert (with the purchase of an entrée).
Starbucks‘ annual Happy Hour promotion, which offers half-off frappuccinos through May 1o from 3 to 5 p.m., will be occurring during the holiday—so why not refuel with some caffeine mid-fiesta?
Six Flags is throwing a park-wide fiesta with games and giveaways on May 3 (Sunday) for those of you who aren’t weekday partiers.
