Chipotle's New Plan to Woo Back Customers Means More Free Food for You
Chipotle needs all the positive publicity it can get — and food giveaways seem like an excellent place to start.
The fast-casual Mexican chain’s sales have declined recently due to several public health scares traced back to their restaurants. Their ongoing issues with food contamination — with E Coli outbreaks in restaurants from September to November — have even led to a criminal investigation.
Now, Chipotle is trying to win back customers using the only thing that can win back anyone in any situation: free food.

According to CNBC, Chipotle has doubled the amount of free food stores are allotted to give away to customers, said co-CEO Monty Moran during an interview on Wednesday.
CFO Jack Hartung said that the company has always had the practice of giving away freebies, but “it just kind of drifted to such a low-grade level that it was kind of non-existent.”
This means there will likely be more promotions like the Halloween “boorito” deal, in which customers could buy burritos for just $3 if they added “something unnecessary” to their Halloween costume.
