We know eating like Buddy the Elf means sugar overloading, so nothing could be more fitting than a 10-foot Rice Krispies Treat sculpture in his honor.
Elf the Musical—which is based off the popular holiday movie—teamed up with the Institute of Culinary Education and their talented chefs to create the original design and build the larger-than-life-size treat from scratch on display at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
After 500 hours, 300 pounds of Rice Krispies Treats, 15 pounds of edible glitter, 76 pounds of icing, 70 pounds of chocolate, and 50 pounds of fondant, the sugar masterpiece was complete. The edible Buddy is so massive that the pieces were made separately, to be put together and brought to life right on site. See a behind the scenes look into the process in the video above.

The sugar structure was on display leading up to the return of Elf the Musical, running from December 13-29. And the enormous treat was donated by the production, ICE, and the Garden of Dreams Foundation, to the NYC Department of Homeless Services.
