We had our doubts, but it turns out Bruno Mars just proved that Beyoncé is in fact, human.

The “Uptown Funk” singer told Rolling Stone that while prepping for their Super Bowl 50 halftime show last year, he witnessed Beyoncé indulging in a cheat meal. “Me and Beyoncé were both working on our diets, stressing out,” he says. “Then the day before, we’re watching playback backstage, and she’s eating a bag of Cheetos. I’m like, ‘That’s what you’re doing?'”

The best part about the scenario is the Lemonade singer totally owned her decision — and the cheetle (yes, there’s a name for the cheesy residue on your fingers) that likely came with it. “She’s like, ‘There’s nothing more we can do these last two days. It’s gonna be what it’s gonna be. So I’m gonna enjoy this bag of Cheetos,'” Mars recalls.

That’s not to say she didn’t work her ass off up until that point. “She’s not f—— joking around,” says Mars. “She’s going to get onstage and show everybody why she’s the best every single time. She’s got that monster in her.”

Cheat meals aside, the pair put on an unforgettable show alongside Coldplay — but it almost didn’t happen. When Chris Martin approached Mars about collaborating, he originally turned him down. “I told him I don’t think so. I just felt like I’d just done it.”

“You’ve got to be careful with those [multi-artist] performances,” Mars continues. “They do it a lot on award shows, where you’ve got so many cameos but nothing solid.”

After a little persistence from Martin and a video message asking Beyoncé to join in, they were all in and well, the rest is history.
