PHOTOS: Our Favorite Chefs, Cocktails & Food from the Aspen Food & Wine Classic
Spending a weekend in the mountains with so many of our favorite chefs? We couldn't have asked for a better time or more inventive food and cocktails at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. And thanks to Instagram, you can relive the weekend along with us.
We saw familiar faces like Giada de Laurentiis, Jacques Pepin, Gail Simmons, Marcus Samuelsson, and Andrew Zimmern (who was taking selfies with everyone).
But one of our favorite moments came during the Sunday morning cook-off: Chefs Curtis Stone and Tyler Florence faced off in the competition, and had help from Stone's wife, actress Lindsay Price (who is expecting her second child), while Florence was assisted by Hello, Ladies star Stephen Merchant. Stone and Price might have walked away with the title, but Florence and Merchant definitely left the audience in stitches.
The other hit of the weekend came from Alinea chef Grant Achatz, who served edible green apple helium balloons at the Wonderland party on top of Aspen Mountain. They tasted like green apple taffy, and were completely edible down to the "string." Take a look at the making of the balloons, and watch for the creative ways attendees tried to eat them in the highlights below.
