When Christine Black walked into her Ormond Beach, Florida, house on Monday, the 46-year-old saw her husband in bed with another woman, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE.

After telling her husband, 49-year-old Larry Black, she was “done with him,” Christine threw one of her shoes at him, striking Larry on the left side of his face, according to an incident report.

The report also went on to say that when Deputy Corey Rittenour arrived at the home, Larry claimed that Christine had a problem with depression and was suicidal. Larry also showed Rittenour several injuries he claimed he had obtained from his wife the night before.

Inquiring about Christine’s suicidal statements, Rittenour was told by Larry that they came over a period of time prior to the incident, though he could not cite specifics. He did say she was cutting herself.

When Rittenour went to speak to Christine, identified as a teacher in The Daytona Beach News-Journal, he found her lying in sand in the backyard, where she was yelling obscenities and acting distraught.

She denied that she was suicidal, but admitted that she had been depressed and wanted a divorce. She also said she recently drank alcohol.

“Wouldn’t you be this upset if you came home to this?” she said to Rittenour when he asked if she had thrown the shoe, an accusation she nevertheless denied, per the The Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Christine was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

She is being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
