Tommy Hilfiger's Son Richard Arrested in Miami Beach After Alleged Scuffle With Bouncer
The 25-year-old son of the international fashion designer was charged with assault
Tommy Hilfiger’s son Richard Hilfiger was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly punching a bouncer at LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, the alleged incident began when security guard Aamir Taylor told Hilfiger’s friend that his clothes were in violation of the club’s dress code. At that point, the affidavit states, “Mr. Hilfiger hit Aamir with his right closed fist in the left side temple area.”
Police then reviewed the security camera footage before charging Hilfiger, 25, with battery, disorderly conduct, and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.
Witnesses outside the club saw the aftermath of the confrontation. “Oh, he was mad,” April Diaz, who was standing outside the club, tells PEOPLE. “He was yelling and swearing at the guy. He was like, ‘Do you have any idea who I am?’ The cops came and calmed him down and everyone got back to normal.”
An employee at the club tells PEOPLE that it was an ugly incident, but not entirely surprising. “We always have people who think they can violate our dress code,” says the source, “but we’re actually pretty careful about making sure that people are presentable. It doesn’t matter who you are.”
Richard Hilfiger, a rapper who also goes by the stage name Ricky Hil, dated singer Rita Ora earlier this year. He was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after processing.
A representative for Hilfiger did not return PEOPLE’s request for comment.
