A father of five has been charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering a 7-year-old Kentucky girl who was found dead after disappearing from a football game she was attending with her family.

Timothy “Timmy” Madden, 38, was arrested on Friday in Scottsville, Kentucky, a week after Gabbi Doolin was found dead in a creek bed.

Kentucky State Police troopers charged him with murder, kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, PEOPLE has confirmed.

A source told WKRN-TV that Madden is a local father of five children. He went to high school with Gabbi’s father and was sitting near Gabbi’s family last Saturday night.

Doolin disappeared last Saturday night Allen County High School in Scottsville, Kentucky, while she and her family were watching her big brother’s pee wee football game, police said.

Her body was found in a nearby creek bed about 20 minutes after she was reported missing.

Investigators promptly said her death looked suspicious and medical examiners declared it a homicide two days later.

Madden proclaimed his innocence as he was led away in a Kentucky State Police patrol car on Friday. When asked by reporters whether he had any words for Gabbi’s family he said: “I’m sorry about their loss, but I’m innocent,” according to WTVF-TV.
