Following her Sunday night arrest for allegedly buying cocaine, Tatum O’Neal says she has three very important people in her corner: her children with ex-husband John McEnroe.

“I’ve talked to all my kids,” the Oscar winner, 44, says in video footage obtained by Entertainment Tonight. O’Neal adds that her children – Kevin, 22, Sean, 20 and Emily, 17 – have been “very supportive.”

Intimates of the actress have told PEOPLE the arrest, which took place near her Lower Manhattan apartment, came as a surprise.

“I would call it a cry for help,” says one friend. Another said the actress was making plans with her daughter for the summer, saying, “There was no indication” of trouble.

O’Neal is due back in court July 28. She has a TV-movie set to air Aug. 2 on Lifetime.
