Survivor Producer Planned His Wife's Murder, Mexico Says
Mexican prosecutors seeking the extradition of a former Survivor producer say he planned his wife’s murder in Cancun last April, and reveal grim new details about how she died.
An extradition request filed this week in Los Angeles claims Bruce Beresford-Redman hit his wife Monica Burgos in the head with a metal tube, bat or stick and then choked her to death before dumping her body in a hotel sewer, reports CNN.
Prosecutors claim the murder was premeditated, saying the couple had been dealing with serious marital problems.
The 438 pages of documents include e-mails between Beresford-Redman and his alleged mistress and evidence that he had racked up a $5,000 phone bill to a sex hotline. Prosecutors also say Monica had threatened to take the couple’s savings if she wasn’t granted a divorce.
Beresford-Redman, who maintains his innocence, was arrested in November and is now fighting extradition from a jail cell in Los Angeles.
A previous complaint filed by prosecutors offered other chilling allegations about the couple’s conflicts in the weeks, days and hours leading up to Burgos’s death.
