Former Subway Franchisee Claims Jared Fogle Told Her He Had Sex with Children as Young as 9 in Thailand – and She Alerted Company but It Did Nothing

A former Subway franchisee has claimed that she told the company about Jared Fogle’s sexual interest in children as early as 2008, but officials did nothing.

Cindy Mills, a Subway franchisee from 2006 to 2012, told Business Insider that Fogle admitted to her that he’d had sex with minors. “He would just tell me he really liked them young,” she said.

She also said that Fogle told her about a trip to Thailand in which he paid for sex with minors between the ages of 9 and 16 years old.

Mills claimed that she first reached out to a regional Subway contact in Florida, where her stores were based, to alert them about Fogle’s disturbing statements, the Associated Press reports.

Later, she turned to Jeff Moody, who was in charge of the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust at the time. Mills said she offered to show Moody texts from Fogle that would prove her claims, but he refused to look at them, telling her he had already heard similar concerns.

“He said, ‘Don’t worry, he has met someone. She is a teacher and he seems to love her very much, and we think she will help keep him grounded,’ ” Mills recalled to Business Insider.

Moody has not responded to the allegations against him.

When Subway did not act on her complaints, Mills decided to hire a lawyer. “I thought, ‘This man has a lot of money. Subway has a lot money. They have made each other a lot of money,’ ” Mills said. “I was worried. I was scared to death.”

Earlier this month, Fogle admitted that he had sex with at least two minors and obtained child pornography of 12 other children as young as 6 years old.

As part of his plea deal, he will only spend between five and 12½ years in prison.

Subway recently announced that it is re-launching its investigation into how much the company knew, if anything, about Fogle’s improprieties.

“Every time I would see him on TV in a commercial with his arms around these children, it would kill me,” Mills said. “I couldn’t stand it anymore.” She became so distressed, she eventually sold her franchises.

Now, Mills is sharing her story in the hopes that more will come forward with similar allegations.

Subway did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Fogle’s lawyer has not commented on the new allegations.
