As police 25 miles northeast of Paris close in on the suspects in Wednesday’s Charlie Hebdo massacre, another shooting and hostage situation has unfolded in the city itself – with reported fatalities.

A gunman opened fire at a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris on Friday and took at least five people hostage, reports Agence France-Presse.

French media outlets are identifying the gunman as Amedy Coulibaly, 32. Coulibaly and a female accomplice, Hayat Boumeddiene, 26, are also suspects in the shooting death of a policewoman in southern Paris on Thursday. It is not clear if Boumeddiene is involved in Friday’s supermarket siege.

Coulibaly and Boumeddiene are said to be linked to the two brothers who opened fire at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people.

A helicopter was seen flying over the Porte de Vincennes area Friday as police swarmed in response to the incident.

UPDATE: Police officials say Coulibaly is dead. At least 3 hostages were killed in the supermarket standoff as well.
