The bizarre behavior continues – Shia LaBeouf was taken out of a New York City theater on Thursday night for being disorderly and causing a disruption.

It happened at Studio 54 in Manhattan during a performance of the Broadway show Cabaret, PEOPLE confirms.

An NYPD spokeperson tells PEOPLE that the actor, 28, “was acting disorderly inside” and was detained, while a spokesman for the Broadway show tells the Associated Press that LaBeouf was “disruptive during act one” and was escorted out of the theater at intermission.

The New York Post reports that LaBeouf was slapping people on the behind and in the back of the head while smoking in the theater, and that he was “incoherent” and “very agitated” and fell on his face when police arrived.

Things got even grimmer at the station house, the Post says, as LaBeouf allegedly told police “I’ll f—- you up,” used a homophopic slur and had to be muzzled with a face mask for spitting.

A rep for LaBeouf, who starred in the Transformers franchise as well as the upcoming Fury, has not commented.

Police confirmed Friday he was charged with one count of criminal trespassing and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Before the arrest, LaBeouf was watching World Cup matches at the Iguana Mexican restaurant in Midtown. He was “a perfect gentleman” and “very polite,” manager Nino Brusco tells PEOPLE. “When he was here, he was great not only with the with the staff, with the patrons, left a nice tip. And in no way shape or form was he sloppy at all.”

LaBeouf has exhibited strange behavior several times this year. In February he wore a paper bag over his head at the premiere of Nymphomaniac in Berlin. That was a month after he said he was leaving public life.
