Redmond O’Neal pleaded not guilty Wednesday in a Santa Clarita, Calif., court to a felony charge of heroin possession stemming from his arrest in a jail parking lot.

The troubled son of ailing Farrah Fawcett and Oscar-nominated actor Ryan O’Neal remains in custody and will likely enter an intense drug-treatment program following another hearing Thursday.

Last weekend, Redmond, 24, was released for three hours to be at his mother’s side. Fawcett, 62, is battling cancer.

A lawyer for Redmond had no comment.
