Up-and-coming rapper Dex Osama – who was signed by Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend Meek Mill – has been shot and killed, multiple reports confirm. He was 26.

WDIV-TV report police revealed Osama had run to a gas station for help after being shot once in the chest and once in the stomach near a strip club in Detroit in the early hours of Monday morning.

Osama had been inside the Crazy Horse gentleman’s club, but according to the report, the gunman was waiting for him outside and witnesses are said to have heard seven gunshots fired.

The Detroit Free Press also report that two others were injured in the shooting.

Fellow rapper Mill – who is said to have given Osama a recording deal – lead the tributes on social media.

Taking to his Instagram account on Monday, the 28-year-old wrote: “Had a lot of talks with you about getting out them streets and chasing ya dreams! I really believed in you and seen you putting on for Detroit! RIP @dex_osama.”
