Karissa and Kristina Shannon, reality television stars who lived with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion, were injured in a car accident in Beverly Hills earlier this week, PEOPLE confirms.

The Beverly Hills Police Department says the twins were involved in a traffic accident October 12 at 9 p.m. at the corner of Whittier and Trenton drives. The 26-year-old sisters were transported to a local hospital and treated for their injuries, according to Beverly Hills police Sgt. Max Subin.

Subin says Kristina Shannon was given a citation at the hospital for misdemeanor DUI.

“We cited her and released her to the care of the hospital,” says Subin. “We will be submitting our case to the district attorney for possible criminal filing for driving under the influence.”

Kristina Shannon is scheduled to appear in court on January 12.

The Shannon twins gained fame in the late 2000s, when they appeared on the final season of E!’s The Girls Next Door as Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends.
