Louisiana police are investigating a double homicide after a couple was found fatally shot in their bedroom with their infant daughter nearby, PEOPLE confirms.

Police responded to a home in Kenner just before 7 a.m. on Monday and found Dawn Scott, 28, and Raynell Kimbrough, 31, dead from gunshot wounds, according to a police statement obtained by PEOPLE.

“Scott was in bed with her infant daughter, who was unharmed,” the statement says. “Kimbrough was found on the floor next to the bed. Both Kimbrough and Scott’s deaths were pronounced on scene.”

Scott’s 10-year-old son found the couple, the statement says. The boy allegedly heard gunshots in the home and went into the the bedroom, where he found them, the statement says.

The boy then went to the apartment of a neighbor, who contacted authorities, according to the statement.

Kenner Police Lt. Brian McGregor tells PEOPLE that no arrests have been made but that investigators are “talking to persons of interest.”

McGregor says there were no signs of forced entry into the home, but witnesses reported seeing a “gold or champagne colored vehicle that looked like a Ford Taurus” leaving the scene after the shooting.

Scott’s three children – the 10-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy and an infant girl – were in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Police say none of the children were harmed.

The children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services, McGregor says.
