A warrant has reportedly been issued for the arrest of actor Nicholas Brendon for failing to submit urine samples to authorities in Tallahassee, Florida.

Brendon, best known for playing Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was arrested in Tallahassee in March on charges stemming from his trashing of a hotel room. He was released from jail provided he avoided alcohol and drugs and submitted random urine analysis and alcohol checks on a weekly basis, but according to the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida authorities say the 44-year-old failed to submit one between March 25 and 30, resulting in the warrant being issued on April 8.

On his Facebook page, Brendon’s spokesperson posted a statement that said the warrant had resulted from a misunderstanding.

“Nicholas was unaware of the warrant that was issued for his arrest. This is a huge misunderstanding, and he’s working with his legal team to correct the situation,” the statement read. “He was receiving treatment during this time and also followed the conditions of his pre-trial release to the best of his knowledge. ”

The statement also claimed Brendon has been drug- and alcohol-free since the Tallahassee incident.

“He’s looking forward to clearing up this situation and continuing his path to recovery,” the statement concluded.

Brendon was arrested on March 13 after he flipped his hotel room’s bed, smashed a porcelain figure, pulled the phone out of the wall and clogged the toilet, causing water to spill out onto the room’s carpet. Damages to the room were estimated at $1,000.

Speaking to the Tallahassee Democrat after his release, Brendon explained that he was trying to come to terms with “a lot of the stuff I’m having to deal with in my life, inside of my head, which is not fun and it’s not funny.”

Brendon then revealed to the paper that he’d been sexually abused as a child, although he did not say that his past trauma excused his behavior. “When I was a kid I was molested for two years by a teacher,” he said. “From that moment my life changed immensely, and I haven’t talked about it because I didn’t want to use it as a crutch, but I’m seeing as I get older that it did have a huge effect on me.”

In February, just days after announcing the end of his marriage, Brendon was also arrested in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for trashing a hotel room. In October, he was arrested in Boise, Idaho, on charges of damaging property and resisting arrest.
