Police say the infant girl sustained "multiple injuries" that killed her
Police in Cherokee County, Georgia, have arrested a 26-year-old man and his 24-year-old girlfriend on charges related to the death of her 3-week-old daughter.
According to a statement from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Nicholas Campbell was arrested Friday on cruelty, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and drug possession charges.
Police responded to Campbell’s residence Thursday night after receiving a call about a baby not breathing. When they arrived they found an infant, Ciara Campbell, unresponsive with “multiple injuries,” according to the statement.

Ciara was transported to an Atlanta hospital for treatment Thursday night, but was removed from life support the following day. Detectives have not released what caused the infant’s fatal wounds.
Campbell did not father the 24-day-old child, according to police, who’ve also arrested her mother, Canton resident Alyssa Kincaid.
Police took Kincaid into custody on Tuesday evening on a cruelty to children charge. Information concerning her bail was unavailable Wednesday as was information on both defendants’ lawyers. Campbell is being held without bail.
Additional charges could be filed against Campbell and Kincaid, depending on the impending results of Ciara’s autopsy, which was conducted Tuesday, the statement says.
