Investigators say Chin appeared to have been killed while in her lower Manhattan apartment before her body was transported to the New Jersey home where it was found, NBC New York, ABC7 and NJ.com report. It is believed she and her son had an argument over money, according to NBC and ABC7, citing law enforcement sources.
Morristown police, who is assisting the NYPD, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Chin owned the building where she and her two sons lived in on the third floor, NBC reports. NYPD detectives are working on getting a warrant to search the building, as well as a vehicle believed to have been used in the crime.
A neighbor told the station Chin also lived in the Morristown home.
It is unclear whether Eng, O’Rourke or Lopez have entered pleas or retained attorneys. Authorities have not released a cause of death.
