Jayden Morrison, a 4-year-old boy who went missing on Christmas Eve, was found dead on Friday.

The body of the boy, who was autistic and nonverbal, was found in a pond, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge confirms, according to WPIX-TV.

Jayden has been at his grandmother’s house and was reported missing at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to The Sun News.

The family had traveled from New York to Little River, South Carolina, for the holiday.

His grandmother, Carolyn Sumpter, noticed he was not with his two siblings after his mother, Tabatha Morrison, had left for a shopping trip to Walmart.

“Mom called me at the store and said she couldn’t find him,” Morrison told The Sun News. “He’s never done anything like this before. He’s 4 years old. He’s never been out of my eyesight.”

The family along with several residents, police, first responders, K9 teams, dive teams and investigators searched for the boy.
