Lois Colley, a socialite and wife of a millionaire McDonald’s franchise owner Eugene Colley, was found dead on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. She was 83.

The New York Times reports that a caretaker found Colley in her $3m Westchester County home, New York with blunt force trauma to the head. New York State Police have said they suspect she was murdered.

“This is a shocking and disturbing crime in what is usually a quiet and peaceful town in Westchester County,” Lieutenant Paul DeQuarto said during a news conference.

Colley was mother to Bruce Colley, 62, who allegedly had an affair with Kerry Kennedy in 2003 shortly before her marriage to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ended.

As of late Tuesday, authorities had no one in custody and no possible suspects or motives, but they did notice a small fire extinguisher missing from the home, the New York Times reports.

According to the Associated Press, there were no signs of forced entry into the home and police are unsure of where Colley’s husband, Eugene, is, but do not consider him a suspect.

While officers continue their investigation, they’re prompting residents and neighbors to be “vigilant and alert,” the AP reports.
