Finding herself at the center of global attention, Mexican Actress Kate del Castillo has finally broken her silence regarding the meeting between Sean Penn and the Mexican drug cartel leader Joaquén “El Chapo” Guzmén Loera.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, del Castillo sounded off (in both English and Spanish) about reports “that aren’t truthful.”

“Thank you for your support over the past days,” she wrote. “Not surprisingly, many have chosen to make up items they think will make good stories and that aren’t truthful. I look forward to sharing my story with you. Kate del Castillo.”

After Penn’s Rolling Stone interview was released on Saturday, it was revealed that she had a hand in leading the actor to the escaped fugitive. Like Penn, she also faced criticism about the rendezvous.

However, Penn has since come clean about his part in the interview, telling the Associated Press, “I’ve got nothin’ to hide.”

While he claimed his innocence, he declined to answer questions about El Chapo’s pre-approval of the article.

Guzmén escaped from federal prison in July and Penn conducted several interviews with him, including an in-person meeting in October. He was recaptured on Jan. 8 and a source told PEOPLE it was Penn’s piece that helped create “openings to explore” what led to the criminal’s recapture.
