A spokesperson for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office tells PEOPLE that Teresa Owens, 51, is still being held on $75,000 bail after charges – for evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse – were filed against her last week.
The cause of death of her boyfriend, 68-year-old Gary Ray Jenks, is still under investigation, a Nancy, Kentucky, police spokesperson tells PEOPLE, who says additional charges could be filed against Owens.
After a relative reported Owens missing, authorities conducted a search on the home Owens shared with Jenks. They found Jenks in a freezer in a a trailer on the property, with his limbs tied together with string.
Jenks’ frozen body was coated in a powdery substance that investigators believe could be lime. Tests will be done to determine whether it is, in fact, the powder that is often used to conceal the smell of decomposition.
Medical examiners are still trying to determine just how Jenks died, the spokesperson says.
