Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was charged with domestic battery on Thursday for an incident in April at a Las Vegas resort where he allegedly assaulted his longtime girlfriend.
The former NFL player was charged with three domestic battery misdemeanors for biting his girlfriend, throwing her to the ground and stepping on her head, the Associated Press reports. He faces up to 18 months in jail if found guilty.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, the argument began at the M Resort when Sapp allegedly threw a margarita in Chalyce Moore’s face while they were in a private cabana by the pool.
The couple left the resort and headed to Moore’s condo, but during the car ride, he allegedly bit her middle finger. Once they got to her home the argument continued. Moore claims she ended up on the floor and Sapp stepped on her face while wearing sandals.
Sapp, who appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2008, was arrested in February for soliciting prostitution and assault after an altercation in Phoenix. He was fired from his job with the NFL Network after the arrest and reached a plea deal in May, according to CBS Sports.
Sapp is due back in court on July 23.
