Ricardo Medina Jr., one of the stars of Power Rangers Samurai, was arrested for murder on Saturday.

Medina, 37, allegedly stabbed his roommate to death with a samurai sword at their residence in Palmdale, California, the L.A. County Sheriff’s office tells PEOPLE.

The Power Rangers star and his roommate, Joshua Sutter, were having an argument – and when Sutter forced his way into Medina’s room, the actor stabbed him once in the abdomen, according to TMZ.

Medina’s girlfriend reportedly witnessed the incident.

The actor called the police himself, and Sutter was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Medina launched his acting career as the Red Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force in 2002 and later played Deker on Power Rangers Samurai.

He is currently incarcerated at the Palmdale Station Jail Facility.
