Kenny Chesney's Pittsburgh Concert Marked by Arrests, Hospital Visits

According to police, 7 people were physically detained for "alcohol-fueled violence" with seven others receiving citations for minor offenses

Chaos reigned in and around Kenny Chesney‘s concert Saturday night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with more than two dozen fans leaving Heinz Field in ambulances with another seven departing in police cars, PEOPLE confirms.

At a press briefing held Sunday morning, Pittsburgh’s Police Chief Cameron McLay said 99 concertgoers were treated by emergency medical technicians at the concert venue with another 37 being transported to area hospitals.

McLay told reporters that most of the fans who sought medical help Saturday night had imbibed a bit too much and were treated for “over-intoxication and dehydration.”

According to the chief, seven people were physically detained for “alcohol-fueled violence” with seven others receiving citations for minor offenses.

All in all, 36 of Chesney’s fans were cited for underage drinking while three were charged with marijuana possession.

McLay said those arrested Saturday night face charges ranging from trespassing and ticket robbery to simple assault and public intoxication.

Several fights also broke out during Saturday night’s concert, McLay explained. One Pittsburgh police officer injured his hand breaking up a fracas between concert attendees.

As seen in photos taken outside Heinz Field, Chesney’s fans also left a sizable mess in their wake. Crews spent hours removing several tons of trash from the stadium’s parking lots, officials claim.

Representatives for the country star could not be reached at press time.

Chesney’s Spread the Love Tour runs through Sept. 9 in Bristol, Tennessee, and he will headline Macy’s 40th annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on Monday.
