The former headmaster of one of Delaware’s most exclusive prep schools was convicted Monday on 25 counts of child pornography.
Christopher Wheeler, 54, was arrested last November after cops searched his home, office and private plane following allegations of child sex abuse made by two Pennsylvania brothers, the News Journal reports.
The former Tower Hill School headmaster was not charged with abuse, but the search led authorities to find the disturbing images and charge him on 25 counts of child pornography instead.
He was convicted on all counts.
Defense attorney Tom Foley argued that prosecutors could not prove that Wheeler had viewed the images or even downloaded them.
But Superior Court Judge Eric Davis disagreed, stating that the evidence indicated Wheeler had a history of seeking out child porn.
“Mr. Wheeler developed a pattern of Internet browsing for child pornography,” he said, according to the Associated Press.
School officials said Wheeler was extensively vetted before being hired.
His sentencing is set for March. Wheeler faces up to 50 years in prison.
