Craigslist employees helped save the life of a man in Minnesota on Tuesday after he posted a cry for help on the website.

The unidentified man caught the attention of the site’s administrators after he shared a shot of himself holding what appeared a noose.

“The young man had apparently tried to commit suicide the day before by tying neckties together,” a spokesman for the Maplewood Police tells PEOPLE. “The tie stretched and it wasn’t successful.”

Adds the spokesman: “He posted on Craigslist saying that he wanted help.”

So a member of Craigslist Law Enforcement reached out to St. Paul Police, who in turn located the man’s home from his IP address. They then contacted Maplewood PD.

An officer went to check on the man and he admitted to the suicide attempt, telling police that he didn’t know where else to turn, so he put a post on Craigslist in the hopes that someone would be able to help him.

The man was taken to Regions Hospital for an evaluation.
