Scandal star Columbus Short may need the help of a real-life Olivia Pope.
Short, 31, who plays crisis-management “gladiator” Harrison Wright on the hit ABC drama, was charged Wednesday with a felony count of battery with serious bodily injury.
He was booked at the police department in Claremont, Calif., and released on $50,000 bail.
The charge, which carries a prison term of up to four years, is related to a March 15 fight at a restaurant/bar in which he allegedly punched another man, according to the L.A. County DA.
“[The fight] happened in the parking lot, but none of the employees saw what happened,” the owner of at Gabe’s Bar and Grill in Los Angeles tells PEOPLE.
Short’s rep has not responded to requests for comment.
