"I haven't had to tread water in a long time," he Tweets after his domestic violence arrest
Talk about sending a message.
Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco), normally a vivacious Twitter presence with more than 3 million followers, has finally broken his silence – on Twitter – following his arrest for allegedly head-butting his new wife Evelyn Lozada. “I haven’t had to tread water in a long time. ” he wrote on Tuesday. “Special thank you to my fans…family…friends for keeping me afloat…”
Also, the football star and Dancing with the Stars alum changed his Twitter profile picture to a road sign pointing in two directions: “Rock” and “Hard Place.”
Lozada, meanwhile, has been more vocal. On Tuesday, she filed for divorce after only 41 days of marriage – and she spoke out, saying, “Domestic violence is not okay, and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
Since the arrest, Johnson, 34, who Tweets as @ochocinco (a nickname referencing his football number, 85, and the name he took officially for a few years), lost his contract with the Miami Dolphins, a scene that was documented on HBO’s reality show Hard Knocks Tuesday.
And VH1 shelved his planned reality show, Ev and Ocho.
