Caylee Anthony's Mom's Diary: 'I Have No Regrets'

Days after her daughter went missing, accused murderer Casey Anthony writes she is "finally happy"

Five days after Florida toddler Caylee Anthony was last seen alive, her mother, Casey Anthony, made a mysterious entry in her journal, according to documents released Wednesday by the Florida State’s Attorney office.

“I have no regrets, just a bit worried,” Anthony wrote in a journal entry dated June 21. “I completely trust my own judgment I know that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means.”

The handwritten diary continues, “This is the happiest that I have been in a very long time.”

Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, 2, and has pleaded not guilty. She is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, awaiting a trial expected to begin later this year.

Evidence Traced to House

Among other revelations in the newly-released documents, which included 1,000 photographs: Investigators now believe Caylee died sometime between June 16 and June 27. They also claim to have traced duct tape, plastic bags and a canvas laundry bag found last December near where Caylee’s remains were discovered in a wooded area to a nearby house the child shared with her mother and grandparents.

A heart-shaped sticker found on Caylee’s mouth is similar to stickers found at the Anthony home, according to the documents.

‘Junk Science’

Casey Anthony’s lawyers declined to comment on the new evidence to PEOPLE, but released the following statement through a publicist: “According to defense lawyers for Casey Anthony, the State’s forensic report on duct tape, plastic bags and other items is a one-sided law enforcement-generated report and is biased and speculative. It uses ‘junk science’ the kind of flawed comparative analysis that the two-year study by National Academy of Sciences released today [sic].”

The documents released by the Florida State’s Attorney also shed possible light on the volatile relationship between Casey Anthony and her mother, Cindy. One friend of Casey’s quoted in the documents, Annie Downing, reportedly told police that Casey was jealous of her mother’s relationship with Caylee.

Downing also reportedly said Casey was afraid she was having a mental breakdown in late 2006 or early 2007, but decided not to seek help after speaking with her mother.
