Calif. Teen Killed by 'Controlling' Boyfriend in Murder-Suicide as Mom Discovers Bodies in Yard
Her mother's screams prompted a 911 call from a neighbor
Two teenagers in a romantic relationship were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the front yard of a San Diego home, PEOPLE confirms.
Willow Singer and Thomas Jordan Hayes, both 19, were discovered by her mother when she returned home. Police believe Hayes shot Singer before shooting himself with a handgun, according to a statement from Lt. Anthony Dupree.
Her mother’s screams prompted a 911 call from a neighbor.
The former Patrick Henry High School students both had gunshot wounds to the upper body and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told NBC 7 the mother lost her husband to cancer three days prior.
Neighbor Barbara Sennet told NBC 7, “[Singer’s mother] is going to have that memory in her head. And she went from having a husband and a daughter to just having a son, that fast.”
She added, “It’s just almost frightening. How quickly with the snap of your fingers life can change for you.”
An unnamed relative of Singer’s described Hayes as a “controlling ex boyfriend,” according to FOX 5.
