Calif. Man Vanished from 'Calm' Apartment Complex Last Monday, Police Suspect Murder
Risetruth Vang, 73, disappeared from his Sacramento apartment complex on Feb. 20
A Sacramento man who was last seen last week may be the victim of a homicide, PEOPLE confirms.
Police began investigating the disappearance of 73-year-old Risetruth Vang after family members reported him missing from his home on Feb. 20. Family members told police that they hadn’t seen or heard from the 5 foot 3, 140-pound Vang in two days.
When officers arrived at his apartment complex they came across evidence that led them to suspect that foul play was involved, according to Sacramento Police Department Sgt. Vance Chandler, who would not disclose what that evidence is.
“We are still looking for him,” Chandler tells PEOPLE, later adding, “There is a chance [he might be alive] we just done know. We haven’t found him.”
Chandler says police suspect foul play “based on the evidence we found on the scene after responding to the initial call.”
Vang’s neighbor William Tackett told FOX 40 that Vang “used to walk these blocks … usually in the morning time he walks down the street and then comes back. I don’t understand how this happened.”

Police believe his disappearance and possible homicide is an isolated incident, says Chandler. Despite this, neighbors in the area are nervous.
“It is scary to think about something like that,” Jesus Ibarra told KCRA, saying of the apartment complex, “It’s pretty calm here.”
