A 30-year-old babysitter is facing child cruelty charges in California where she is suspected of assaulting a 5-month-old boy who died four days after police found him unresponsive, PEOPLE confirms.

Brittany Ingrassi, a resident of Lancaster, California, allegedly battered Aiden Lopez around the head and chest on March 22, causing visible trauma and bruising, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Ingrassi is being held on $1 million bail, and additional charges will likely be filed, the statement claims.

Aiden died early Saturday morning from his injuries.

Police were called to Aiden’s home on March 22 on a report of a child not breathing.

Ingrassi, according to police, is a long-time friend of the baby’s father, and had been tasked with minding the child at the time of her alleged crime.

Ingrassi is expected to enter a plea to cruelty to a child likely to produce great bodily injury or death during a hearing that is scheduled for April 15.

It was unclear Thursday if Ingrassi had legal representation.
