Bill Cosby Deposition Set for October in Playboy Mansion Sex Abuse Lawsuit

Bill Cosby will be questioned under oath about sex assault allegations against him, says the plaintiff’s lawyer Gloria Allred.

Judy Huth claims Cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him at the Playboy Mansion, Los Angeles in 1974 when she was 15 and is suing the star in California.

Now, a deposition has been set for Oct. 9. It will mark the first time that Cosby has spoken about a sexual assault allegation against him since 2005, in a separate case.

“Today we received a copy of the court’s order,” Huth’s lawyer, Allred, said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

“The court granted our application requiring Mr. Cosby to submit to his deposition before the deposition of our client, Judy Huth,” adding: “We are pleased that we will now be able to move ahead without further delay on Ms. Huth s case and we look forward to taking Mr. Cosby s deposition on October 9.”

Cosby’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment, but the Cosby Show comedian has long denied sex abuse allegations against him.

The California Supreme Court on July 22 denied a petition by Cosby’s legal team to review earlier rulings in Huth’s lawsuit. This cleared the way for the deposition of Cosby to proceed. It had been scheduled for June 26 but was put on hold.

In December, the Los Angeles County district attorney declined to file criminal charges against Cosby in the case, saying the statute of limitations had expired long ago. But Huth’s lawsuit has proceeded.

Portions of Cosby’s 2005 deposition were unsealed earlier this month; in the deposition, Cosby admitted he gave quaaludes to a woman and had sex with her.

Dozens of women have accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. The entertainer has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime.
