Aretha Franklin’s middle-aged son was undergoing emergency surgery on Tuesday after being severely beaten at a gas station in Detroit on Monday night, according to reports.
Two men and a woman assaulted Eddie Franklin, 52, at a station near Plymouth and Evergreen, the Queen of Soul’s spokeswoman tells the Detroit News.
Other details were scarce. The female suspect appeared to be about 19 years old, and one of the men had dreadlocks. All three were African American.
An unidentified person at the station took Franklin to an area hospital and then filed a police report, according to authorities. Word of Franklin’s condition was not immediately available.
