Anthony Michael Hall’s neighbor, Richard Samson, says he is still recovering from injuries caused by the Breakfast Club actor, 48, who is currently facing a charge of felony battery with serious bodily injury after an alleged altercation with Samson.

Samson says the incident, which occurred at their Playa del Rey condominium complex on Sept. 13, began when he heard someone yelling outside.

“He [Hall] got into a tussle with someone else in the complex. I heard yelling out my front door and walked out to see what was going on,” Samson tells PEOPLE. “I told him, ‘You need to calm down.’ Within two seconds, he was in my face and said some very unpleasant things to me. He then shoved me and I fell to the ground.”

Samson was in a cast for two months and is now in physical therapy for his wrist and says he knew immediately his injury was serious.

“As soon as I fell on my wrist, I heard and felt it break,” he says.

He then called 911 and informed Hall of the injury. Samson, who is now working with a lawyer, has not seen Hall or had any contact with him since the altercation and is hoping to serve the Brat Pack actor with a restraining order.

Hall’s lawyer had no comment.

And despite earlier reports that the incident was sparked by a gate being left open, Samson says this was not the case.

“I want to make it clear that it didn’t have anything do with the gate. I just walked outside to see what the yelling was and there was an altercation with someone else in the complex and that person has chosen to be anonymous,” he says.

This isn’t the first time Hall has been in trouble with his neighbors. In 2011, he was booked on a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace after a separate altercation with fellow residents at his condominium complex.

“I am not the only one in the complex who has had interactions with him. The police have been here before because of him,” says Samson. “It’s a scary thing living next to this guy.”
