Appearing both jubilant and relieved, the sister of Amanda Knox expressed thanks Monday after an appeals court overturned Knox’s murder conviction.

“We’re thankful that Amanda’s nightmare is over,” said Deana Knox in Perugia, Italy. “She has suffered for four years for a crime she did not commit.”

Deana also paid tribute to the defense lawyers and the two judges and six jurors who rendered the decision.

“We are thankful to the court for having the courage to look for the truth and to overturn this conviction,” she said.
