Police in Alabama have arrested two men for allegedly running an illegal gambling operation which they disguised as a daycare center.

A police official confirms to PEOPLE that 28 slot machines were seized during a raid on Growing Little Lambs Developmental Center in Birmingham, calling the space a “mini-casino.”

An investigation into the business, which culminated in a raid on Wednesday, began more than a month ago following an ordinary late-night traffic stop.

The police official claims the driver told police he’d just come from the daycare center and got suspicious because of the late hour.

Arrested during Wednesday’s raid were Christopher Goodlett, 27, and Alfred Jenkins, 34.

It was unclear Friday if either man had an attorney. Bail information was also unavailable.
