Vince Gill is about to be singing some new songs – lullabies.

The country superstar is now a grandfather. His daughter Jenny and her husband, Josh Van Valkenburg, welcomed their first child, a boy named Wyatt Gill Van Valkenburg, on Monday, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The new mom, who is the only child of Vince and his first wife, Sweethearts of the Rodeo singer Janis Oliver, is also a singer who has worked with her father and stepmom, Amy Grant.

“Josh and I are so excited to be parents!” Jenny wrote on Facebook in March, along with a shot of her growing baby bump.

Vince, 57, announced his grandson’s arrival while performing with the Time Jumpers on Monday night at the 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville.

Earlier this year, he talked about his excitement when Jenny revealed her pregnancy news at Christmas time.

“I had a surprise gift waiting for me,” he told an audience in Merrillville, Indiana, in May, according to

“I always get socks and underwear,” he said. “And it’s become a tradition for me to make everyone breakfast on Christmas morning. So when my daughter Jenny came in the kitchen and said she had one more gift for me, I thought, ‘Oh great, more underwear.’ But instead, she handed me a card with an ultrasound picture in it of the baby that’s on the way.”
