Who's The Band Perry's Worst Backseat Driver?

The sibling trio share their rules of the road

It’s probably a good thing the siblings of The Band Perry do most of their traveling on a tour bus – because when they do get in a car together, “the three of us are major backseat drivers,” admits Reid.

The worst offender? Big sis Kimberly. “I just always feel like I’m in charge even when I’m not behind the wheel!” she says. “Because I’m the oldest, I guess that’s my role. I’m a defensive passenger so I m always looking on all sides of the car.”

But, she says, since the band got involved with State Farm’s Celebrate My Drive safety campaign, “I’m learning backseat driving can be a distraction too and I’m trying to check myself on that.”

Kimberly, 31, says she and brothers Reid and Neil wanted to join the campaign, which encourages young drivers to keep two eyes on the road and two hands on the wheel, “because we truly care about our fans,” she says. “As we look out onto our crowd, we want them to not only get to our shows safely but get home safely as well.”

The siblings’ own teen driving experiences were positive, says Reid, 25, although he admits to a little undercover reconnaissance at the DMV before he got his license the first time. “I kind of stalked and spied on the DMV office and figured out the route they were going to take and drove it several times before I took my driving test so I knew every turn!” he confesses.
