LISTEN: Surprise! Taylor Swift Wrote Little Big Town's New Single 'Better Man'

Little Big Town revealed in a Facebook Live press conference Tuesday that the “young girl in Nashville” who wrote their track “Better Man” is none other than Taylor Swift.

Vocalist Karen Fairchild explained how Swift offered them the song. “She sent us this song and it was one that was really special to her. She thought of us because of the harmonies. She’s never pitched a song to anyone before and the moment that we heard it we were like, ‘Man, that is a song that we’re gonna cut.’”

The band, comprised of Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Philip Sweet, described Swift as a “dear friend,” saying they’ve known the now world-famous pop star since she was in high school.

“Feeling really honored that a band I’ve loved for so many years decided to record this song I wrote,” Swift shared on Instagram after Little Big Town made the announcement. “Good luck at #cmaawards… Love you guys.”

The song is about someone who has “disappointed you,” Fairchild explained. “The beauty of that storytelling is that we can all relate to being disappointed by someone (and) saying ‘Enough is enough. This would’ve been amazing if you would’ve gotten your act together.’ And that’s kind of a fun song to sing.” (No word on if Swift was inspired by either of her recent exes, Calvin Harris or Tom Hiddleston.)

The band also announced the first-ever Ryman residency, which they will headline for six nights starting Feb. 24 to kick off the release of their seventh studio album, The Breaker.
