Filming his new video for “Roller Coaster” wasn’t exactly difficult for Luke Bryan.

“Anytime I can stand on a beach and film a video is a good day,” Bryan tells PEOPLE Country of the video shoot, which took place in sunny Panama City, Florida.

The location was an easy choice for a song Bryan says he is particularly pleased with. “Two of my best friends, Michael Carter and Cole Swindell, wrote it and I could not be more proud of them,” he says. “It’s one of the first songs I heard for this album and it is so well crafted!”

Bryan says he’s made a lot of memories on the beaches of Panama City over the years. In addition to hosting a free concert every spring break at Panama City party mecca Spinnaker Beach Club, he recently bought a beach house in the area, and he and wife Caroline used to travel there for spring break as college kids.

“There’s been tons of memories,” he says, “stuff that still makes me smile, some stuff I’ve forgotten and some I want to forget!”
