Date night at its best!
Kelly Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock enjoyed an evening out together at the Celebrity Fight Night XXI Founders Club Dinner at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix on Saturday.
The duo were not only there to support one of the nation’s most elite charity events, but also to celebrate a very special someone’s birthday – country legend Reba McEntire, who turns 60 on Saturday.
Though it was her birthday celebration, the mother-in-law to Kelly Clarkson (Blackstock is her stepson), gave an intimate performance for the guests, singing a couple of her songs including “I’m a Survivor” and “Going Out Like That.” Clarkson, who was seated front and center, could not help but sing along the entire time.
Clarkson and Blackstock’s daughter, River Rose was not at the event, but that didn’t stop the happily married couple from gushing about their little one calling her a “sassy pants” and “such a travel baby.”
When asked by one the hosts where River Rose was, Clarkson joked and said, “We just left her in the room. She’s good!” Though baby River Rose didn’t accompany her mom and dad to the event that night, the 9-month-old was seen at rehearsal earlier in the day, with big headphones on her ears, while mom Kelly did a sound check.
To conclude the night, Clarkson took to the stage to perform a couple of her hit songs, but closed with a very special surprise for her mother-in-law. Clarkson led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to Reba that ended with a standing ovation.
Before leaving the stage, Kelly had one last sweet message for country star, “I love you.”
