“Yes, it’s true, I’m sleeping with my producer!” Kellie Pickler says with a laugh, confirming the not-so-scandalous news.

Though she and husband Kyle Jacobs starting writing songs together the day after they met, her latest single, “Feeling Tonight,” marks the first time the couple have worked in the studio as a team.

“He is so good at what he does,” Pickler, 28, tells PEOPLE. “The music he’s produced for Lee Brice is all over the radio! I’m so excited to be in the studio again recording a new album, and working with Kyle has been amazing. He has watched me perform for years, so it was great to have a front row seat as an artist and see him in his element.”

“Feeling Tonight,” co-written by Sarah Buxton, Josh Osborne and Jimmy Robbins, and co-produced by Jacobs and Matt McClure, debuts on Sirius XM Tuesday.

“This is such a fun song. I hope it’s this year’s summer anthem. It captures that summer love, that first love, that first kiss, that first spark of romance when you know there’s something special happening. I think of Kyle when I sing this song and the love we share. We’ve been married four years and together more than seven, but we’re still like newlyweds.”

Reality Show Details

Making beautiful music together isn’t the only project Kellie and Kyle are collaborating on. Filming begins next week on the new Ryan Seacrest-produced reality show with the working title I Love Kellie Pickler.

“We start shooting the week of the CMT Awards (June 10 on CMT) and the CMA Music Fest (June 11-14 in Nashville), so there will be a lot going on. We’re still in the creative process, but it will have music of course since that’s what Kyle and I do, and our personal lives, but nothing dramatic! We have fun together and do normal things.

“They’ll be coming into our house, so that’s incentive to keep it clean! Actually, I’ve always been a clean freak. I’m a little bit OCD with my Clorox wipes, and I hate clutter. If something doesn’t have a purpose or a reason for being there, it doesn’t need to be there.”

What viewers will see are items from her new collection of home goods and accessories, Selma Drye by Kellie Pickler, a partnership with the Grand Ole Opry.

“It’s named for my great-grandmother Selma. They are pieces that were inspired by things she had or that we had in our home. My father-in-law does wood turning and he taught Kyle, so I brought some pieces in that he made and asked them to recreate those. It’s old-country, rustic restoration, shabby chic.”

Supporting the Troops

Pickler has also created a line of T-shirts introduced in May honoring each branch of the military called “America Strong.” Proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the USO, which she is passionately committed to.

“I’m celebrating my 29th birthday this June with the military, doing a USO show,” she tells PEOPLE. “I can’t think of anywhere I would rather be than with the men and women serving our country.”

For her support of the armed forces and military families, Pickler will be the first recipient of the Operation Troop Aid Chris Kyle Patriot Award during the CMA Music Fest on June 13.

Despite so much happening, Picker admits there is still one thing on her wish list.

“It’s kind of crazy that I don’t have my own shoe line! I love all shoes as long as they make me taller!” she laughed, showing off a turquoise pump that added five inches to her petite frame. “My first single was “Red High Heels,” so you would think I’d at least have a line of red high heels. But when you’re working with Ryan Seacrest the possibilities are endless so who knows? Maybe the show will make that happen!”

I Love Kellie Pickler is scheduled to premiere Sept. 18 on CMT.
