With CMA, ACM and Grammy Awards under her belt – and an opening gig on pal Katy Perry’s Prismatic world tour – it’s quite clear that Kacey Musgraves is the latest breakout star of the country world.

And while some are just coming to accept the singer’s place in the genre, the Texas native, 25, says she was always destined to be a country singer – in fact, the proof is right on her thigh!

“I have a birthmark that’s shaped like Tennessee on my thigh,” she recently told PEOPLE Country. “It’s really weird because there’s a freckle right by where Nashville is. Clearly, it was fate.”

The singer’s star will surely be rising this summer: her latest single, “The Trailer Song,” dropped this week (watch her performing the fan favorite on the Tonight Show here) and she’s on the road throughout the U.S. and Europe this summer before joining Perry on tour Aug. 10.
