Plenty of people were focused on Kacey Musgraves’s hair at the CMAs Wednesday night, but a different part of her outfit was giving her a problem before her performance with Loretta Lynn.

“Right before I performed, my panties totally came off,” the star bluntly divulged after the show, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “They were the stick-on kind, and there’s not much to work with.

“I had to rip them off and throw them to the side” – indicating the theater, she further explained. “They’re somewhere around here, so in case you see them, they’re mine.”

Musgraves, who took home a songwriter’s choice CMA award for “Follow Your Arrow,” performed Lynn’s 1971 single “You’re Looking at Country” with the legend.

Musgraves also talked to PEOPLE about the more visible parts of her ensemble for the evening: “The dress is Oscar de la Renta, classic choice, can’t go wrong. I’m such a fan of the ’60s – hair and makeup, aesthetically, all of that. And I’m from Texas, totally big hair. I might as well be waving the Texas flag.”

Musgraves’s stylist probably might have preferred she’d gone with the flag idea.
