Is Justin Timberlake going country?

The singer, 35, raises the question with his new Instagram. Posted early Monday, Timberlake’s smiley selfie shows him chilling in the studio with Little Big Town musicians Karen Fairchild, 46, and Kimberly Schlapman, 46.

The “Mirrors” singer wrote, “NBD… Just writing with @littlebigtown This band is the truth!! So good!!!!”

This wouldn’t be the Tennessee native’s first time embracing his country roots. At the 2015 CMA Awards in November, Timberlake hit the stage for an rousing eight-minute performance with crooner Chris Stapleton.

But it doesn’t seem Timberlake is straying far from his signature sound. Last week, he hinted at a musical reunion with Justified collaborator Pharrell, 42. “Currently,” Timberlake captioned a photo showing the guys in a recording studio.

And on March 10, he wished longtime collaborator Timbaland a happy birthday, writing in part, “We’ve done so many special things together through music but, your friendship and brotherhood away from the spotlight goes way beyond that!!”

As for where the new songs will appear, it’s not yet clear whether Timberlake is working on music he’s committed to record for the upcoming DreamWorks Animated film Trolls, due in November, or a potential followup to his two-part album The 20/20 Experience from 2013.
