Joey Feek Surrounded by Loved Ones – Including Daughter Indiana – in Family Photo as Cancer Battle Continues
Joey had her little daughter in her lap while "reminiscing" with her sister-in-law, writes her husband Rory Feek
For Joey Feek, Tuesday afternoon was all about family.
In a new photo her husband Rory Feek shared via Facebook, the country and gospel singer, 40 – who is dying of terminal cancer – has daughter Indiana, 23 months, in her lap, and sister-in-law Marcy sitting to her right.
“My sister Marcy reminiscing w Joey (and Indy) about how they started the restaurant together nine years ago,” wrote Rory, 50, mentioning Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, the family’s establishment near their home in Pottsville, Tennessee. “What a beautiful blessing Marcy Jo’s has been to our family and so many others.”
Joey has been bonding with family in her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, in recent months while preparing her loved ones for life without her.
“As Joey has had to learn to come to terms with what is happening to her body and what the future holds, it’s been important to her to share some things that she wants me and our girls to remember after she’s gone,” Rory exclusively told PEOPLE this month.
“More than once, I have found myself beside her bed taking notes as she shares things like when the best time to plant the garden will be this spring, how to prune the fruit trees and to make sure we still set aside a percentage of what we make as a tithe each month.”
Meanwhile, Rory has been preserving cute moments between Joey and her family – many of which have been featured on Rory’s blog, This Life I Live, and the country duo’s social pages. Besides snapping sweet photos, Rory has also taken video that will be treasured for years to come.
“Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music,” he told PEOPLE. “I can’t help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey’s memory alive in Indy’s heart.”
